Versatile Actress Also Memorable in 'McCabe & Mrs. Miller'

Shelley Duvall, whose lithesome features and quirky screen personality made her one of Robert Altman's favorite actresses, has died.

Duvall's most famous role was as Wendy Torrance, the tormented wife in Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining" (1980). She also starred in Altman's "McCabe & Mrs. Miller" (1971), "Brewster McCloud" (1970), and "Thieves Like Us" (1974).

Duvall died in her sleep from complications of diabetes at her home in Texas, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
